Isobel Maehler is an outstanding visual artist who is studying illustration at
Cal State Long Beach, with plans to become a children’s book illustrator.
She is a self-directed student of drawing and use of color, who has learned
from school art teachers, her father, and YouTube. Her interest in
children’s book illustration has grown out of experience volunteering at her
local library and taking courses in library science. With each art project
Isobel takes on, she considers goals she might achieve, and through
creativity, organization and determination, she creates intense visuals that
go way beyond the ordinary. In high school, she took many art classes plus
Advanced Placement courses, earned straight A’s and honor roll, and was
chosen Student of the Year twice. Watch for Isobel to become Illustrator of
the Year in the future.
